Prasenjit's Life
Prasenjit was born on 6th July 1980 as the eldest of three sons in a middle class family, in the city of Goddess Mahalaxmi, Kolhapur situated in south Maharashtra on the banks of river Panchganga. Being known as south Kashi in the ancient times city has a very rich tradition of music and had produced music maestro like late Kheshavrao Bhosale. Living singing legend and heavenly voice Lata Mangeshkar is also closely related with this city.
This is hard to believe but fact is that Prasenjit started singing at the tender age of just four years and was leading from front in school programs with his soft silky and touching voice. His music training was started with learning of playing Tabla from Shri Vamanrao Mirajkar when he was of 12 years. His life has a great influence and driving force of mother, she being a teacher was a dedicated person and Parsenjit from early childhood adopted these qualities of hard work and dedication of mother and even today these qualities are his source of inspiration and phenomenal infra structure for his life style and functioning.
Looking at his dedication towards music and singing he was suggested to get proper training for singing also. He was able to contact Potnis Sir, for learning the singing skills but as the distance between his house and Rajarampuri, where Potnis sir were living was more and Prasenjit has to cover it daily by walking hence he was forced to stop his singing education. Soon he got a good guide in shri Dhondiram Sanadi – Mangaonkar. Though old age of shri Sanadi allowed him to train Prasenjit for duration of 5-6 months only but during this singing seeds were so strongly nourished that today there are emerging as a giant tree.
After completing S. S. C. Prasenjit joined Lalit Kala Vibhag and went on to complete M .A, from Shivaji University. His success is underlined with being a “Sangeet Visharad” as well as “Padya Visharad”. His younger brother Abhijeet, who later on went to win Zee Marathi’s state level singing contest also had interest in singing. As the family’s economic conditions were not enough strong so both the brother started to perform in stage shows and live programs. This was the New Year eve of year 2000 when people of Karveer city become aware of budding singing sensations of the city as on this occasion both brothers presented a musical program on their own with title Kosambi Brothers presents “Swar Vihar” not only the program was a grand success but voice of Prasenjit was recognised and appreciated by the music lovers of the city. In the true sense this was the start of professional singing for Prasenjit.
Prasenjit kept on participating in the musical programs and live events; he was finalist for the program “Sangeet Ratna” and won ETV’s contest “Sapta Sur – Ek Sargam“in the year 2003 interesting fact about this competition was that both the Kosambi brothers were singing for the title and winner was decided by difference of just one mark. In the words of Abhijit, inspiration source of his singing skills lies with genuine hard work and dedication of Prasenjit. The first award won by Prasenjit was “Kailasvasi Meenatai Shilgaonkar Simarti Chashak” at the age of eighteen years. He also won 1st prize at Delhi for stage play “Rukmini Swayamber” in which he had played character of Lord Krishna.
On the way of his music journey Prasenjit meet with Shruti Sadolikar active at music world of dream city Mumbai. Mother requested her to take Prasenjit to Mumbai but she refused to do so with the words “One day surely Mumbai will call him and that will be most appropriate day for introducing Prasenjit to music world of Mumbai.” This might be realization of her words that Prasenjit has cleared the auditions for Indian Idol 4, held at Kolhapur and was called for entrance finals at Mumbai. He made final 30 short listed and has cleared the inaugural Piano round of the competition to become part of selective bunch of 22 boys and girls.
Mohmad Rafi is idol and inspiring source for the singing of Prasenjit, where as among the present singers from Hindi film industry he likes Sonu Nigam and Udit Narayan. This simple human being is always fearful about hurting emotion of others. This is life dream of Prasenjit to work for teaching music to handicapped and he is looking at Indian Idol as a destination for his dream journey.
